ECA Liquefaction Project

Sempra LNG and IEnova, Sempra’s subsidiary in Mexico, plan to add natural gas liquefaction capabilities to the Energia Costa Azul (ECA) liquefied natural gas (LNG) receipt storage and regasification terminal, located north of Ensenada in Baja California, Mexico.

Given its strategic location in Mexico’s West Coast, the project is geographically positioned to connect Asia, Pacific Basin and international LNG markets as well as potential markets on the west coast of Mexico, to abundant natural gas supplies of the U.S. western states, including Texas, Wyoming, Utah and New Mexico.

ECA LNG has obtained all required permits and was the only LNG project in the world to reach Final Investment Decision (FID) in 2020.
